Great ride for Adventure Motorcycles or a challenging ride for Scooters

San Diego County Two-day Ride Mountains to Deserts

This 2 day discovery ride explores the Mountains and Deserts of San Diego County.  The ride is targeted at scooters with a slower, relaxed pace.  The ride includes parts of the Cleveland National Forest, Mount Palomar, Anza Borrego Desert State Park and the Laguna Mountains. We will spend Saturday evening near Julian at the Pine Hills Lodge.

"This is kind of a reunion ride for those riders that rode their Scooter Across America, however new riders are welcome and can come and join the fun and meet new riders.  Part of this ride will include dreaming of new scooter adventures for the future.  The ride is targeted at scooters of 150cc."

Saturday: Morning ride brings us through Lilac Canyon and Valley Center then up the famous Palomar Grade.  Then it is a break for coffee and donuts at Mother’s Kitchen on Mount Palomar.  Then it is down the mountain and over Mesa Grande and through Ranchita and down the Montezuma Grade into Borrego Valley.  We will pass by some of the great desert scuptures.  Next it is into Borrego Spring for lunch.  After lunch it is over Yaqui Pass and then up Banner Grade into Julian for Mother’s Apple Pie.  After pie it is just 10 miles of back mountain roads to our lodge for the evening.

Self Guided Trail

This ride is designed to be a self guided adventure. Riders install a custom GPS microSD Card into their Garmin GPS unit. The routes are then displayed as the rider travels along.  Navigation is made easy.  Riders can choose to follow along at times or can choose among hard and easy options.  Or riders can simply choose to ride off the routes and return to them later.  For many, this allows them to just experience the trail without the burden of getting lost.
