Mini Moto Across America? That is the dumbest Idea I ever heard....I AM IN!

Riders at the finish line

Just added the Honda CT125 Hunter Cub !

Riders will have a luggage van that will follow the team each day. The ride will include motels every night.

If you come on a new Honda, you will not need to repair it along the way. They just work fine.

Riders will be eating in restaurants along the way. There will be laundry services available at several locations. This ride is about enjoying America, not about carrying lots of gear & cooking along the way. Travel light and enjoy.

Yes this is the long awaited new style of Scooters Across America

Time to be a kid again and do something really dumb.

OK since many of you like to study more detail about the ride, below are the ride maps.

How does the ride navigation work?

This is a self-led GPS ride; all riding is on your own. You are responsible for your own riding. You will be given a GPS map file and instructions on how to use your Garmin GPS unit. People will hook up in small groups of less than 6 riders and tend to ride together. You are not encouraged to ride alone. You are responsible for your own riding and yourself.

(see my ride Navigation Video)

Are you right for this ride?

When something goes wrong on a ride, would your riding friends say that you are more likely to need help or more likely to give help? You should be in the more likely to offer help camp. This ride is filled with riders that are more likely to give help, so most of the time the riders never need help. Additionally there is all the normal stuff, come prepared to maintain your bike, fix your bike on the trail, repair flat tires, deal with bad weather and rain and make a joke or two.

How do I make the GPS stuff so easy?

I develop very high quality ride maps custom for our ride. They come from much of what I and others have ridden. I take the best from all my rides and make new ones.

(See my Custom Ride Maps Video)

Note from me, gpsKevin

My goal for this ride is simple, great riding, so you can count on great routes and places to ride.

But in addition: the ride is about discovering new places, meeting new friends, seeing new parts of the Southwest.

Thanks

FAQ's

Q:What if I would like to ride a different bike than the 3 allowed?

A: If you would like to choose another bike you must convince me that it is equivalent performance. The goal here is we are all on the same performance bikes.

Q:How can I get my bike to the start of the ride?

A: Depending on where you live there are several choices:

              1. You can ship your bike to Rancho Diego (the start of the ride) and we will receive it and store it until the ride starts.

              2. You are welcome to bring it in a truck to the ride and store your truck at Rancho Diego, then after the ride you can fly back to San Diego and pick up your truck.

    1. You can simply buy the bike in San Diego at the start of the ride. I will be working to arrange a good deal with the local Honda Dealer.

Q:How can I get my bike home from the ride?

A: Depending on where you live there are several choices:

              1. After the ride we can made arrangements to temporarily store the bikes and then ship them out per the rider's choice.

              2. We will be starting a group discussion as some may want to organize the group rental of a U-Haul truck.

Q:How do I get home from the ride?

A: You are on your own to arrange this depending on where you live. Many riders will choose to fly home.

Q:How do I contact the other riders?

A: After signup and a few months before the ride I will create and share a ride contact list with all the riders.

Q:Do I need a Garmin GPS for the ride?

A: Yes, all bikes will be required to have a Garmin GPS. While cell phones can work great, there will be several areas that they will not work. If you do not have a Garmin GPS, you will need to buy one. A simple recommended solution is a Garmin 78

Q:How long is the ride?

A: The entire route across America is 3,432 miles. The longest day is 310 miles, average day is 245 miles and the shortest day is the last at 114 miles.

Q: Would the Kawasaki Z125 be a ok bike?

A: Yes we think that is a pretty great bike too.

Q:Am I required to wear some kind of costume?

A: No costume required, but some will be dressing up.
