Ride is complete now here are the Pictures from the ride.

About the ride

The ride starts in Kanab Utah and forms a 7 day loop ending at Bryce Canyon. The adventure is overland style meaning it is not the tough Jeeping stuff but more a great explorer's route around the red rock beauty of the canyons and mountains of southern Utah. This ride leaves Kanab and travels through the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument to Escalante. Next the route takes us on the Famous Burr Trail and over the Henry mountains toward Hanksville. Day 3 the route takes us into the Canyonlands National park and the Moki Dugway grade into the Valley of the Gods, finishing the day in Monticello. Day 4 riders can choose the spectacular Lockhart Basin route through the canyonlands or the La Sal Mountains route as we travel into Moab. Day 5 is a break day in Moab with many, many choices. Day 6 we travel across the San Rafael Swell and explore the Wedge Overlook and into Ferron, Utah. Then finally on Day 7 we travel across the 10.000 foot Aquarius Plato toward Bryce Canyon. This is a fantastic ride and covers much of the best of Utah.

This is not tough jeeping but rather backroad exploring of the Utah Southwest. There are route options built into this adventure so riders can choose the adventure lever that fits them best.

Burr Trail

“Rollabout” is a rite of passage in city folk society, during which males undergo a journey during adolescence, typically ages 16 to 66, and live in the wilderness for a period as long as six months to make the spiritual and traditional transition into manhood.

How does the ride navigation work?

This is a self-led GPS ride; all riding is on your own. You are responsible for your own riding. You will be given a GPS map file and instructions on how to use your Garmin GPS unit. People will hook up in small groups of less than 6 riders and tend to ride together. You are not encouraged to ride alone. You are responsible for your own riding and yourself.

(see my Ride Navigation Video)

Are you right for this ride?

When something goes wrong on a ride, would your riding friends say that you are more likely to need help or more likely to give help? You should be in the more likely to offer help camp. This ride is filled with riders that are more likely to give help, so most of the time the riders never need help. Additionally there is all the normal stuff, come prepared to maintain your bike, fix your bike on the trail, repair flat tires, deal with bad weather and rain and make a joke or two.

How do I make the GPS stuff so easy?

I develop very high quality ride maps custom for our ride. They come from much of what I and others have ridden. I take the best from all my rides and make new ones.

What Jeep will Jane and I be taking on this ride?

Note from me, gpsKevin

My goal for this ride is simple: great riding. So you can count on great routes and places to ride.

But in addition, the ride is about discovering new places, meeting new friends and seeing new parts of the world.

Thanks

gpsKevin
