Colorado Pass & Peaks Ride Review 2014 ‎(Responses)‎

Adventure Bike Ride Around the Best of The Rocky Mountains

This ride is a scenic adventure bike ride. The ride is named Passes and Peaks, because it will include some of the most spectacular passes and peaks in Colorado. This is mostly a paved road ride with some graded dirt roads. There are some options for rougher dirt roads over some passes. But keep in mind this is not a tough ride; it is meant to be a scenic adventure ride.

Here is a ride invitation video that I had a little fun making

Yes, I had a lot of fun dreaming up this ride, I can't wait to ride it.

About the Ride:

This is a 7 day adventure bike ride making a big loop around the State. We will be staying in 4 different hotels during the week. The ride will focus on the great sights in Colorado. Some riders may truck there bikes to the start of the ride and then leave their vehicles at the beginning of the ride for the week. We will be eating in restaurants during the week, so no need to bring cooking equipment or food. The riding should be easy and scenic, but some days may be long. There are some route choices for those that would like some more challenging options. This is a good ride for people riding two up, but you should be skilled riders as there are dirt sections. We will spend 2 night in 3 of the 4 hotels, that means that 3 of the days we will be doing loop rides from our hotel, therefore if some riders need a break day it is possible.

Come prepared for the possibility of wet and cold weather. While it is likely that the weather will be great, we will be exploring some high elevation and the weather can turn quickly during the day. Carry rain gear everyday.

Come Prepared to Have Fun and Meet Great People

OK since I know many of you like to study more details about the ride, below is a ton of info about the plan and routes.

Self Guided Trail

This ride is designed to be a self guided adventure. Riders install a custom GPS microSD Card into their Garmin GPS unit. The routes are then displayed as the rider travels along. Navigation is made easy. Riders can choose to follow along at times or can choose among hard and easy options. Or riders can simply choose to ride off the routes and return to them later. For many, this allows them to just experience the trail without the burden of getting lost.

Do this ride yourself: Purchase Rider Packet and GPS microSD Card for this ride

Note: A Full Rider Packet consists of printed ride descriptions and paper ride maps and a custom GPS microSD card for your Garmin or BMW GPS unit.

Notes: I suggest you plan and order early. Normally I ship within a week. But sometimes I run out and it can take me several weeks to get new cards and maps. And sometimes I am out riding and building new adventures so that can be hard too. I list the Option for 2 SD cards because many riders like to carry a backup card or a cheap backup gps in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

Ride Plan Maps Below

I put these ride maps on the web page because I know a few of you love looking at the ride detail and dreaming about the ride. At first glance these maps do not look so impressive, but they are way cool. If you click the Earth or Satellite tab and start zooming in, you can see the ride in incredible detail. I have spent a ton of hours sorting through the details of the ride for each day, so for those of you that enjoy this sort of thing, well enjoy!

Legend:

The Red lines are optional harder dirt roads

The Blue lines are the main route, mixed paved and graded dirt roads

The Green lines are optional easy routes
