About the ride
This is a week long dirt motorcycle ride from the United States into Baja California, Mexico The ride makes a loop and will return to the start. Riders will ride their own motorcycles along some of the most spectacular routes in Baja. This includes both mountains and beaches; riding like you can’t find anywhere else in the world. Riders will be staying in hotels and there will be a luggage van following us during the adventure. Riders will be riding on their own, together in small groups and will need to keep track of each other. This is a tough guy ride. At times the routes can be very challenging and long. Riders and bikes will need to be prepared to go the distance. Bikes should be newer with new tires, new chain and sprockets and larger gas tanks. In order to enjoy this adventure, riders will need to come with a “can do” attitude and ability to help and support the other riders around them.

Riding dirt bikes in Northern Baja, California is an unforgettable experience. You'll encounter a stunning variety of terrain: vast, open expanses of sand, rugged mountains with winding, rocky trails, and scenic rides along the Pacific Ocean. The riding offers a feeling of wide-open spaces and the freedom to explore, with unexpected sights and challenges making every ride unique. The Baja riding community is incredibly welcoming and helpful.
Tips for Riding in Baja:
Thoroughly service your bike before the trip. Carry spare parts, tools, and a first-aid kit. Research your route, obtain necessary permits, and plan for fuel stops. Ride within your limits, be aware of your surroundings, and always wear proper safety gear. Minimize your impact on the environment by staying on designated trails and packing out all trash. Be respectful of local customs and communities.
Important Notes:
Ensure you have the proper documentation for crossing the border with your motorcycle. Weather and trail conditions can change rapidly in Baja. Be prepared to adjust your plans accordingly.

The ride starts near San Diego, California, USA. Riders meet either at the border crossing in Tecate or at our Hotel. The riding lasts a full 7 days and finishes back in Tecate at the USA border crossing
This ride includes evening hotels. Included with this ride is a luggage van that will carry our overnight gear and will supply us with fuel at strategic checkpoints.
This is NOT a fast "Rip to the Tip" 7 day ride. Riders will have many route choices, however this is a long, and at times, tough ride. Intermediate and advanced riders only. You must have prior experience. Riders will group together with other comparable riders and navigate with the use of custom GPS.
More About this ride
This ride is a collaboration from all the greatest Baja riders and minds. I myself have been collecting the best routes and adventures in Baja for years, but in addition, I have some Mexican friends that are fantastic riders and adventurers that have helped design this trip. Thanks Roberto and yes, in addition to that, living here in southern California I have received much help and advice from American Baja experts too.
So why am I so excited about this trip? It's because I will get to ride some of the best riding in the world and share it with several foreign friends. Riders joining us are from Mexico, Canada, and the USA. Anyone else?

About the Routes
Riding for 7 days can be hard and long for even the best riders. I have worked hard to create daily options so that if a rider is fatigued or simply needs a break there are route options. Each day there are Easy, Main, and Hard options. There is also the possibility of following the luggage van. In this way I am able to design routes that work well for riders on a range of rides and bikes, from small dual sport bikes, to high performance dirt bikes. All riders do not take the same routes.
Riders will group with others wanting similar experiences.

Ride Signup info:
This is a big deal, serious ride and only prior experienced riders are welcome. That is part of our great team harmony. If you are new to my rides you should start by joining one of my other open rides and get to know some of us. If you are a great rider and would like to be considered directly for this ride you can send me an email and I will give you consideration. Sorry to do this but great riders are key to great rides. And I simply may not know you. Let's get that fixed. If you don't know me or have not been on any of my other rides, then send me an email and introduce yourself. l will try to help answer your questions and help determine if the ride is right for you:

The cost to join this ride is $1,695. This covers your lodging for the 7 nights during the ride and the cost of the luggage van and driver. Hotel rooms and cabins are double occupancy. This also covers your ride packets which include custom Garmin GPS maps on a micro SD card and printed ride maps and descriptions.
Now taking signups: You can now reserve your spot on this ride by leaving a $400 Deposit (Ride limit is 24 riders)
After your signup riders will receive an email from me with further ride information and instructions.
Note:
Riders must make 50% payment by October 3rd, 2026.
Riders must make full payment by January 3rd, 2027.
Riders will receive ride packets in the mail one week before the ride.
Refund Policy
Your ride deposit is fully refundable until the 50% payment date above. We encourage riders to make their deposit early in order to ensure they will get a spot on the ride and to begin working on you own ride arrangements. After making your ride deposit, you will be connected with the other riders in order to coordinate any plans or discussions you may have. And to just have fun developing plans with the other riders. If your plans change, you will receive a full refund until the 50% payment due date above.

I put these ride maps on the web page because I know a few of you love looking at the ride detail and dreaming about the ride. At first glance these maps do not look so impressive, but they are way cool. If you start zooming in, you can see the ride in incredible detail. I have spent a ton of hours sorting through the details of the ride for each day, so for those of you that enjoy this sort of thing, well enjoy!

Q: What bike will I (gpsKevin) be taking on this ride?
A: I will ride my Yamaha WR250R
Q: What bikes are good for this ride?
A: Dual sport and small adventure bikes can work well. The routes have options suited for both types of bikes.
Not recommended are big heavy adventure bikes unless you are an excellent rider and good in sand.
Q: What gas distance range should my bike have?
A: I would suggest that on some days you carry enough fuel to make 200 miles due to the fact that sometimes the route can have issues and it is good to have a little margin.
Q: Do I need a Passport?
A: Yes, we will be crossing the US and Mexican borders; both countries require passports.
Q: What are motel room arrangements?
A: Rooms are double occupancy, meaning each rider shares a two queen bed room with another rider.
Q: How does the ride navigation work?
This is a self-led GPS ride; all riding is on your own. You are responsible for your own riding. You will be given a GPS map file and instructions on how to use your Garmin GPS unit. People will hook up in small groups of less than 6 riders and tend to ride together. You are not encouraged to ride alone. You are responsible for your own riding and yourself.

Q: How do I make the GPS stuff so easy?
I develop very high quality ride maps custom for our ride. They come from much of what I and others have ridden. I take the best from all my rides and make new ones.

Q; What do I do if I don't have a Garmin GPS?
A: Buy one, you need it. We will show you how to use it. You can get a great one for under $200 bucks.

Q: Is the riding really on my own?
A: Yes, but everyone hooks up and rides with a friend, or a new friend or me.
Q: Do I need insurance?
A: Yes, you must carry proof of medical insurance and liability insurance for yourself/motorcycle.
Q: Would this be a good ride for new riders?
A: No, this ride is for intermediate and experienced riders only. The riding has easy route choices and tough route options. Each evening we will study the following day's choices. You will find lots of supportive people at the ride.
Are you right for this ride?
When something goes wrong on a ride, would your riding friends say that you are more likely to need help or more likely to give help? You should be in the more likely to offer help camp. This ride is filled with riders that are more likely to give help, so most of the time the riders never need help. Additionally there is all the normal stuff: come prepared to maintain your bike, fix your bike on the trail, repair flat tires, deal with bad weather and rain and make a joke or two.
